By His grace, we’ve reached the year 2017.
I don’t think I have to tell anyone that 2016 was a rough one. So many people died. In my 49 years, I had never witnessed racism and sexism on the scale it was displayed in the past 12 months. I felt like we were all part of some post-apocalyptic movie that none of us auditioned for and had no say in participating in. The truth is, we have a tough road ahead of us, but you know what, we’re built for it.
I don’t know any adult who doesn’t have a story. Some of us have tragic ones, some of ours are so filled with drama we could win Oscars for surviving, and some are filled with so much sorrow, the same circumstance would surely kill another “normal” human being. We’ve come through a lot. We have further to go, but we’re going to do it. Yours is to share your story so that you can be a bridge for others.
I hope that each of you has a magnificent year. I hope that whatever you’ve been placed on this planet to do, you will make it your business to do it. I pray that whatever your calling is, you will walk proudly in it. Help others, however, whenever, and wherever you can. Give to those who you know will never be able to repay you. These things are part of your duties. Do them without grumbling, hesitation, or the expectancy of being repaid. Trust and believe that you will be repaid in kind for every single thing you do. You may as well sow goodness because it just feels better when that good stuff comes back as opposed to the bad.
Be blessed and more importantly, be a blessing!
